The French higher education system is one of the best in Europe, Among the well-known universities are École Normale Supérieure, École Polytechnique, Pierre and Marie Curie University, and University of Paris-Sud.

There are also many great options to study for an MBA in France: The country is home to many of the best-ranked elite business schools in Europe. Among them are HEC Paris, Instead, ESCP Europe (which also has campuses abroad), and Edhec Business School, to name but a few.

 

RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR PART-TIME WORK IN FRANCE

There are certain guidelines and rules that have to be kept in mind while doing Part-time jobs in France,

  • International students outside of the European Union can work for a maximum of 964 hours in any given year provided the given criteria is fulfilled – 
    • The University they are Studying in should not have any objection to the work
    • The Student should have a valid residency permit
    • Students do not need temporary employment authorisation or Authorisation Provisoire de Travail (APT – Temporary Work Permit) anymore. The residency permit has the inbuilt clause for the same now.
  • All students in France enrolled in the first year of university as well as students enrolled in a language program are eligible to work in France. They have a right to work in France.
  • The minimum hourly wage is about €7.61 approximately and hence cumulatively a student can earn up to €7900 per year.
  • A student can also get employment at the university s/he is studying in or any other university. Students at a university are offered a contract for 1 year that covers the period of 1 September-31 August
    •  Maximum of 670 hours in the period between 1 September and 30 June can be taken up part-time.
    • Up to 300 hours between July 1 and August 31 can be taken up full time.
    • Students pursuing a 6-month program are allowed to work for about 472 hours.
  • The courses with inbuilt internships may not allow part-time jobs. It is better to check with your university regarding the same.

APPLICATION PROCESS

For Europeans:

To apply for admission in a French university as an international student from another EU country, you will usually need:

  1. Completed university application
  2. ID photo or driver’s license
  3. High school transcripts (or relevant equivalent)
  4. Essay (if asked)
  5. English proficiency results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo etc.)
  6. Apply for financial aid program (if the University provides one)
  7. Application fee (if asked)
  8. Any other required document depending on the University

 

For Non-Europeans:

  1. Completed university application
  2. High school and college transcripts (If you didn’t attend a college then just the high school ones will do)
  3. Copy of passport
  4. A passport sized photo
  5. Essay (if asked)
  6. English proficiency results (TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo etc.)
  7. Copy of birth certificate
  8. Certified translation of the birthplace of your parents
  9. Proof that you can support yourself financially
  10. Any other required document depending on the University
  11. After admission: A French Student Visa

 

Entry Requirements for French University:

  • A Campus France authorization
  • A passport copies
  • A passport sized photo of yourself
  • Copies of transcripts and graduation diplomas
  • A copy of your European health card (for EU students)
  • Application fee (if required)
  • A civil liability certificate
  • A cover letter
  • French and/or English proof of language proficiency
  • Proof that you have the financial resources to fund your stay in France

 

Tests accepted to study in France:

You will need at least one of the following tests if you want to study in France: 

  1. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language).
  2. TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication). 
  3. IELTS (The International English Language Testing System). 
  4. TCF (Test de connaissance du français).
  5. Le TEF (The French Evaluation Test).
  6. DELF (Diplôme d’études en langue française).
  7. DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française).
  8. GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).
  9. GRE (Graduate Record Examinations).
